Jill Berelowitz: Metamorphosis
November, 13, 2025 - February, 15, 2026

An exhibition of bronze works by sculptor Jill Berelowitz at the Hotel Bel-Air, Los Angeles, presented by Ackerman Studios and CURA Art.

‘Metamorphosis,’ an exhibition of works by internationally acclaimed sculptor Jill Berelowitz, unveils a body of work that explores transformation, resilience, and the shifting relationship between humanity and nature.

At the heart of the show is ‘Majesty,’ a striking towering bronze inspired by the cardoon, sculpted through the traditional Lost Wax process. Both intricate and commanding, the work embodies Berelowitz’s gift for metamorphosing organic motifs into enduring forms. The cardoon, a symbol of humility and providence, becomes a meditation on beauty, strength, and the layered transformations of life itself. Other works reflect the artist’s fascination with change, renewal, and the human journey. ‘Moving Forward’ captures the evolving grace of relationships and the healing movement of body and soul, while ‘Emergence’ evokes resilience; its weathered figures drawing power from elemental bronze. Nature’s transformations flow throughout the exhibition; ‘The Tree of Life,’ and ‘The Circle of Life’ cast from apple branches, become a radiant celebration of growth and evolution. ‘Persephone,’ inspired by Greek mythology, rises from pomegranate branches, a glowing symbol of fertility and rebirth. ‘The Diver,’ originally created for the 2012 London Olympics, crystallizes a fleeting moment of courage into a soaring emblem of aspiration and freedom. Together, these works form a powerful narrative of metamorphosis—of how art can embody the transitions that shape our lives and remind us of our shared humanity.

A few behind-the-scenes artist snapshots are shared here, with the official exhibition photography below.

Born in Johannesburg in 1955, Jill Berelowitz is one of London’s most innovative contemporary sculptors. Trained under Karen Jarozynska and at the Johannesburg School of Art, she moved to London over 40 years ago, where her practice has flourished. Working primarily in bronze, steel, and optical resin, Berelowitz is renowned for transforming the human form and organic motifs into powerful symbols of regeneration, resilience, and connection. Her monumental public bronze commissions include the 5m Shakespeare ‘His Mind’s Eye Tree’ to celebrate the 400th anniversary of his death at New Place, Stratford upon Avon; the ‘Tree of Cherished Memories’ at the National Memorial Arboretum and the ‘Dorchester Sphere’ in Mayfair to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. Others include Core Femme at Charing Cross Hospital, and the 5m Dachshund Dog head for George Mayfair. Whether intimate in scale or monumental in presence, Berelowitz’s sculptures explore life cycles, movement, and the eternal balance between humanity and nature.
